Hayat dan Kebhinekaan (Existence and Plurality)
Existence and Plurality (Hayat dan Kebhinekaan) revisits the independence anthem Hari Merdeka and its haunting phrase, “Hayat masih dikandung badan.” Through archival photographs and moving images, the film reflects on whether independence has truly brought liberation, or if new forms of oppression have taken root. It traces how mass production and modern progress have severed the intimate ties between land, spirituality, and gender, leaving existence itself fractured. By confronting these ruptures, the film asks what it means to live—and to resist—within a nation still searching for the essence of its freedom.
