Femininity (2024)
Femininity is a photographic series that navigates the terrain of filial piety, inherited ritual, and the quiet legacies of violence passed down through womanhood. Composed of ten images, the work reflects on how femininity is not merely performed but absorbed—learned through observation, repetition, and silence.
Each image is contact printed in the darkroom, preserving the scale and intimacy of the negative. I make superficial incisions into the surface of the photographic paper—fine, deliberate cuts that do not tear but trace. These gestures serve as quiet disruptions, symbolic markings that suggest rupture without destruction. They speak to the subtle, often invisible abrasions that shape the feminine self across generations.
