I Am Your Daughter

This project I Am Your Daughter is a visceral, multidisciplinary performance piece that confronts the deeply personal and universally resonant theme of familial abuse. This work emerges from my lived experience of enduring sexual abuse until the age of 20. It translates the inner turmoil and cyclical anguish of such a history into an expressive artistic language, allowing viewers to engage with the complexities of abuse, identity, and the reclamation of voice.

The performance features the repetitive, escalating act of me screaming the phrase, “I am your daughter,” as a declarative confrontation with the paradox of relational roles and betrayal. Behind this act, experimental darkroom images from a prior project titled Femininity are displayed on a green screen. These images, crafted through darkroom photographic techniques, interrogate societal constructs of womanhood, offering a fragmented, distorted, yet evocative visual language.
